Why am I Running?

I’m running because Michigan needs a new generation of leadership—people who understand the challenges ahead and who are ready to work with every generation to move the state forward. Combining fresh perspectives with long-standing experience leads to better outcomes for the people we serve. That collaborative approach is the kind of leadership I will bring to Lansing.

For years, I’ve seen friends, classmates, and young families leave Michigan for greater economic opportunity. It’s a reminder that our state can, and must do better. I’ve experienced many of the same challenges, and I want to support those who hope to build their lives and futures here at home through common sense legislation.

The Issues

The issues that are facing our great state, and our residents future.

Local Control

The state has gained too much power, which needs to be reigned in. I will work with my colleagues to amend PA233, which gives local control on Solar Farms back to local governments. The MPSC has too much authority, and should not be able to dictate how rural areas govern.

Agriculture & Small Business

I will work hard to de-regulate agriculture commodities and small businesses. Farmers are struggling, due to the high cost to comply with regulations put in place by our state government. We need to encourage farming and entrepreneurship to the next generation to create a sustainable future.

Income Tax Reform

Our states budget has increased from $59.6 billion to $82.5 billion in just six years. I would support legislation that would start by cutting the income tax to 3.9%. Michigan's taxpayers are in desperate need of a tax break, which can happen when we trim the state budget.

Future Opportunities

We need a leader in Lansing that knows the economic challenges of young adults. While many flee the state in search for better economic opportunities and housing, we continue to make it more challenging. I will work with my colleagues to reform property taxes, and increase opportunities for our next generation.
